- "A community off the beaten path" The city of Scotland, population of approximately 900, is located about 30 miles northwest of Yankton and about 50 miles southeast of Mitchell.
- Central Farmers has a 2200 ton fertilizer plant built in 2014, a chemical and seed shop, as well as a shop for tire repairs and oil changes.
